Consequences of Unacceptable Rating
  • If a district or campus receives the lowest
    rating for two consecutive years or more, the
    level of state intervention increases and
    includes possible closure or annexation
    (district) or reconstitution (campus).
  • Currently, a Campus Intervention Team has been
    assigned by the Texas Education Agency to
    implement and to monitor the needed changes at
    Sealy High School. The CIT reports to
    Commissioner Neely and remains in effect for two
    years.

Duties of the CIT
  • Review the academic and organizational structures
    of Sealy High School, which includes the
    following
  • Reallocation of resources and technical
    assistance.
  • Changes in school operations and procedures.
  • Staff development for instructional and
    administrative staff.
  • Interventions for individual administrators and
    teachers.

Duties of the CIT
  • Assessment of the quality, quantity, and
    appropriateness of instructional materials.
  • Availability of technology based instructional
    materials.
  • Report on parental involvement.
  • Assessment of effectiveness of strategies.
  • Assessment of the extent and quality of the
    monitoring of new teachers.
  • Assessment of the professional development
    program for the staff.

  • Demographic analysis of the student
  • population, including student
  • demographics, at risk populations,
  • special education percentages,
  • disciplinary incidents, and school
  • safety information.
  • Financial practices, including
  • assessment of the curriculum,
  • teaching practices, and class
  • schedules.
