What is plastic made of?

• Made from petroleum
• Petroleum is made of plant and animal materials,
  it decomposes, sinks into the earth. Because of
  the pressure and temperature, it becomes oil.

  cracking process (converts oil) and then there
  is a chemical reaction. This results in

Alternate to plastic

• You can turn paper mill waste into levulinic acid
  and this in turn can be made into useful things.
  Technology will be expanded to produce levulinic
  acid from other organic wastes, such as straw, so
  it can produce other chemical products, such as
  solvents, herbicides and plastics

How to recycle plastic

• You put the containers in the recycling bin and
  then they take it to a factory.
• They sort the plastics and then melt them.
• They know have plastic again and they can bend it
  and shape it into other useful things.
