• Not following safe lab procedures
• Failure to prepare for lab
• Failing to ask questions before or during lab
• Unfamiliarity with equipment or chemicals
• HORSEPLAY

Personal Safety

• Familiarize yourself with safety equipment
• Review all lab procedures before lab
• Ask before doing
• Wear safety glasses
• Tie back long hair
• Refrain from wearing bulky clothing
• Secure rings, watches and jewelry during lab
• Follow safe lab procedures at all times

• -Add Acid to Water, not the other way around

In Case of Fire

• Inform the instructor immediately
• DO NOT try to put the fire out yourself
• If a student is on fire, DO NOT RUN, stop drop
  and roll
• Use fire blanket, fire shower or fire
  extinguisher if necessary

Other Lab Rules

• NEVER eat or drink in the lab THIS INCLUDES GUM
  OR CANDY
• ALWAYS heat liquids in a test tube with the test
  tube pointing away from individuals
• When lighting a bunsen burner, ALWAYS be sure the
  air and gas are turned on low
• NEVER experiment on your own
• NEVER use a thermometer as a stirring rod
• NEVER leave your lab station unattended
