Title: AMANDA online data processing Overview

1
AMANDA online data processing - Overview
  • I The goals of online data processing (ODP)
  • II Parts of the online filtering system
  • Monitoring
  • TWR µ-DAQ merging
  • L1 filtering
  • III Changes in season 2003/2004
  • IV Selections, cuts fits in L1 filtering
  • V Format of the L1 file

2
AMANDA online data processing Goals
  • Reduction of raw data to rates which can be
    transmitted by TDRSS satellite link.
  • Fast availability of data.
  • Crucial for detector monitoring.
  • Convenient for muon and TWR data

Approximate data rates
Raw µ-DAQ 6 GB/day
Raw TWR 60 GB/day
Monitoring 0.01 GB/day
HE stream 1 GB/day
L1 filtered 0.6 GB/day

AMANDA online data processing Changes 2003/2004
  • Datahandler
  • New ODP administration tool utilizing MySQL DB
    PBS batch system
  • Monitoring
  • Omscanner (Root tree generator for bad
    run/file/OM selection) introduced.
  • TWR / µ-data merging
  • Cut is now on the number of WFs ( was NHits ) for
    HE sample.
  • Datahandler is used to find corresponding files.
  • ? Dramatically reduced CPU / Disk / Networking
    resources.
  • L1 Filtering
  • Software change ofip ? sieglinde Redesign of
    L1 filter steps.
  • Reduced number of necessary calibration constants
    (only T0, Amps).
  • ? Higher flexibility, speed and more chances to
have filtering running at the beginning of winter

AMANDA online data processing Summary
  • L1 data sample is now produced at pole and ready
    to be used for analysis
  • Maintenance by the WOs (hopefully) significantly
    reduced
  • TWR merging optimized
  • new L1 f2k file is compatible to L1 files
currently produced in the Zeuthen re-filtering
    2000-2003
  • Minimization of calibration necessary for L1, so
filtering can start right after the winter.
