MINISTRY OF HEALTH PROMOTION
  • Created on June 29, 2005
  • Minister Jim Watson, Ontarios first Minister of
    Health Promotion
  • Brings together the chronic disease and health
    promotion programs from the MOHLTC and the sport
    and recreation programs of the Ministry of
    Tourism
  • These programs now have one central home in
    government allowing for coordination between
    programs and partners

IMPACT FOR STAKEHOLDERS
  • MHP wants to work closely with our service
    delivery partners, sport, recreation and health
    associations, interested parties, and all levels
    of government to create the governments action
    plan
  • Stakeholder consultations began in Ottawa on Jan.
    30/06 to talk to individuals and organizations
    across the province to help guide MHP in creating
    a healthier Ontario and healthier Ontarians
  • Consultations will continue across the province
    until the end of February 2006

  • CMOH/ADM has dual reporting relationship to 2
    Deputy Ministers
  • Director of CDPHP Branch has dual reporting
    relationship with 2 Assistant Deputy Ministers
  • Most of the Chronic Disease Prevention Health
    Promotion Branch Programs and staff were
    transferred to MHP in November 2005
  • Continuing to work on a transition plan for MHP
