1Survey Background In Fall of 2003, during
the opening of College, Dr. Eileen Holdens
small group activity entertained the following
question Q Was the technology
sufficient for meeting individual
faculty teaching needs? A The
response was no.
2Survey Background continued In response to
the faculty, the Instructional Technology
Planning Committee, under the leadership of Dr.
Sharon Simpson, developed a faculty-wide,
investigative survey. The focus of the survey
revolved around three parts PART I The
survey was initiated to discover if technology
resources (classroom and office) of critical
importance to teaching and learning were
adequate. PART II Additionally, the survey
polled faculty on their use of GroupWise
e-mail. PART III Finally, the survey took a
comprehensive look at the technology skill set
that faculty expected students to possess.
3Who Participated? Response to the
survey was high, with 119 full-time and 62
adjunct faculty responding
full-time
4- Part I the Adequacy of Critical Technology
Resources - Are technology in the office and classroom
adequate?. Here are some interesting points that
emerged... - Frequency of use of technology was reported as
several times a week. - For the basic technologies of computers and data
projectors, a high proportion 90 of respondents
reported that these resources were adequate.

classroom, For the basic technologies of

86 of respondents reported that these resources
were adequate.

on the use of e-mail, 15 of respondents reported
that they never use e-mail.

e-mail, only 23 reported using GroupWise as
their preferred e-mail program.
