Actions Taken Since Vegas
  • The Procedure Board Committee (PBC) began a
    review of the RD-2 in order to begin a total
    rewrite and reorganization of the document to put
    it into logical sections
  • Download version of the current RD-2 is being
    provided at this meeting in .pdf format
  • RD-4 (Secretariat Services) updates were approved
    by INCITS Letter Ballot 1123 (August, 2005)
  • Process for requesting the INCITS logo for
    download are now available on the INCITS website
  • Establishment of TC domain names completed in
    January, 2006
  • Online membership application completed

  • Protecting INCITS IPR
  • Public Relations
  • Tool support for TC management
  • INCITS Executive Board has approved use of the
    JTC 1 form (JTC 1 N 7991) and a cover page was
    developed in conjunction with ITI legal counsel
    detailing the process for US participants' use of
    JTC 1 N 7991.  The form is currently being
    considered by the EB via letter ballot.
  • Membership requirements (and any proposed
    changes) will be discussed at a special Standards
    Procedures Board (SPB) Business Model meeting in
    August

Challenges
  • Consortia, SDOs continue to have strong appeal
  • Other countries developing greater interest and
    talent in bringing work forward - creating
    consortia/fast tracks
  • Formal standards world remains very difficult for
    newcomers to join
  • Current financial model does not support the
    organization
  • 18 EB members fees contribute more than 50 of
    membership dues
  • 285 freely available standards on ISO/IEC website
  • 18 PAS Submitters (6 active, 1 new under ballot)
