Characteristics of Impressionism
  • Study of light on color.
  • Very little to no neutrals, tints, shades, and
    tones.
  • Small brush strokes or pastel marks you can see.
  • No blending or smudging with fingers instead
    layering of colors and your eye blends it when
    you stand back.
  • Meticulous or detailed applications of paint or
    pastels.

    around using a pencil.
  • Copy impressionism portrait with pencil (LIGHTLY)
    on manila paper.

CUBISM EXERCISE 1 DRAW BIG!
THIS IS TIMED!
  • Choose 3 color markers.
  • Draw a line horizontally to represent the table
    top.
  • Observe the object in front of you and do a blind
    contour drawing of one side or view of it. Use
    the lightest color you have.
  • Now look at object and draw another view of it on
    top of the drawing you just did.
  • From your imagination without looking at object,
    draw another and different side on top of the
    other drawings.
  • Connect some lines to make interesting shapes.
  • Fill in some areas with color. Leave some areas
    with just the outlines.

    all the way around edge.
  • Choose someone to draw could be yourself, friend,
    famous person.
  • Overlap 3 different points of views (front,
    side/profile, top looking down, bottom looking
    up) on same paper.
  • Incorporate collage (cut and paste) construction
    paper, newspaper, magazines, or sketches in your
    artwork.
