3INTRODUCTION
The increasing dynamism and rapid expansion
occurring in the economies of contemporary
societies have created the imperative for the
inclusion of more participants in the
developmental process regardless of gender
classification. Hence the complementarity of
engaging the new generation of female workers
became inevitable.
4The continuing integration of women in the
developmental processes of nations engendered by
heightened advocacy for gender equality, female
liberation and prosperity of nations have all
combined to catapult the relevance of women in
nation building. The universal acceptance and
application of this emergent phenomenon was more
prominent and fast-paced in the Western
hemisphere than the developing world.
5The exposure of women to industrial work culture
and education have led to the creation of strong
and enduring platform for capacity building,
skills acquisition, technical competence and
intellectual know-how necessary for making
significant contribution to nation building. The
modern woman irrespective of location has access
to soft intellectual infrastructure that would
enable her add value to the ingredients of
community development.
6That the professional and business woman has a
compelling stake in nation building is not in
doubt and incontrovertible. But the role has to
be situated in a proper context relevant to the
peculiar needs of each society. However, women
continue to face unique obstacles in career,
business and political advancement. Nevertheless,
women have a role to play in creating an impact
in their communities thereby contributing to
nation building, regardless of social or
financial disadvantages, race, ethnicity or
business background. To this end, the need to
assist women achieve their dreams and create
awareness should be addressed.
7CAMPAIGN FINANCE
Campaign finance refers to the means by which
money is raised for election campaigns. As
campaigns have much expenditure, ranging from the
cost of travel for the candidate and others to
the purchasing of air time for tv ads, a great
deal of time and effort is often spent raising
money to finance this cause.
8Fund raising Techniques
- Campaigns and fund raising vary in their
techniques, funds can be raised through different
fundraising activities such as - Networking
- Direct mail solicitation
- Dinners
- Launching
- Advertisements
- House parties
- One of the best known fundraising techniques is
the process of holding dinners that feature
speakers such as the candidate or other
well-known figures. Those in attendance typically
would contribute to the proposed cause
9Each fundraising activity carries its own special
disclosure requirements. Campaign finance and
fund raising can easily be achieved by women but
most times are hindered by both the mindset of
men, inaccessibility of loans from Banks and
lack of networking skills amongst women. Women
need to network more with each other and the
opposite sex Women need to know their worth,
sharpen their skills, possess an optimistic
attitude and exert their rights. This positive
foray would further create increased visibility
for the female gender.
10CONCLUSION
Women play important roles in helping their
nations maintain peace, democracy, and economic
prosperity. Typically, our nation would support a
range of programs and activities designed to
bolster efforts of such courageous women. This in
return would further increase training for women
to participate effectively in the political
arena, reduce legal and social inequalities,
expand economic and educational opportunities,
and increase access to better health care. Thank
