Policy
  • A line of argument rationalizing a course of
    action.

3
Having a tree risk policy is preferable over
having no policy at all.
4
  • However, once a tree risk policy has been
    created, it must be implemented.

Tree Risk Policy is defined by
This Arboricultural Specifications and
Standards Manual for the Village of Oak Park
defines the best management practices for the
arboricultural care of Village-owned parkway
trees. All work performed on, or affecting,
parkway trees shall comply with the Standards and
all pertinent tree-related ordinances. These
minimum Standards apply to all Village staff,
residents, and contractors.   The Standards may
be amended at any time that experience, new
research or laws indicate that improved methods
or circumstances make it advisable.

Tree Risk Management PlanPolicy Statement
The Town of Quincy has an active policy to
maintain the safety of public lands from
potentially hazardous trees. The Town will
strive to mitigate, in a timely fashion, any tree
deemed high-risk. When available fiscal and
human resources limit the ability of the Town to
mitigate numerous high-risk trees, priority shall
be placed on trees deemed to carry the highest
risk. The standard for rating the hazard risk of
a tree will be the International Society of
Arboriculture's twelve-point hazard evaluation
system. The Superintendent of Forestry will
administer this program and have final judgment
in all matters concerning the mitigation measures
taken for any tree deemed high-risk.
