- I wouldnt do that
- Sr. Burroughs nunca diría mentiras.
- Mr. Burroughs would never tell lies.
- Ellos no fumarían.
- They wouldnt smoke.
- Te ayudaría, pero tengo que lavarme el pelo.
- I would help you, but I have to wash my hair.
5Using the conditional to refer to the past can
also express the idea of would in the past.
- El maestro dijo que no habría examen.
- The teacher said that there wouldnt be a test.
- Creíamos que los Kings ganarían
- We believed that the Kings would win.
- Mis padres sabían que no me casaría con mi novio.
- My parents knew that I wouldnt marry my
boyfriend.
6Last, but not least, we can use the conditional
tense to make polite requests.
- Me acompañarías al baile?
- Would you accompany me to the dance?
- Señor, me daría una A en la clase?
- Wouldst thou give me an A in the class?
- Nos comprarían una pizza?
- Would yall buy us a pizza?
