Framework for the Scientific Exchange Programme
Sciex-NMSch
The enlargement of the European Union (EU)
represents a major step towards securing peace,
stability and prosperity in Europe. To support
this process, the Swiss Parliament has decided to
finance a contribution to the reduction of
economic and social disparities in the enlarged
European Union. Eight of the new Member States
have decided that scientific cooperation, and in
particular scholarships, are to be part of the
Swiss contribution. The resulting scientific
exchange programme is open to all factulties and
sciences. PARTICIPATING STATES CZ, EE, HU, LT,
LV, PL, SK, SI DURATION 2009 - 2016 BUDGET a
total of CHF 29,08 Mio is available for the

Two Sciex-NMSch Researchers Categories
  • Junior Researchers
  • Fellowships, reserved for promising graduate and
    postgraduate NMS Researchers (no age
    restriction).
  • Aims Doctoral Degree or postdoctoral research.
  • Duration between a minimum of 6 and a maximum of
    18 (for postDocs) and 24 (for Doctoral
    Candidates) months.
  • Senior Researchers
  • Short Term Visits, open to Senior Researchers
    from the NMS and Switzerland (no age
    restriction).
  • Aims establish a cooperation, visit a Junior
    Researcher and to discuss a follow-up project.
  • Duration Up to five days

Host Institutions on Scoring Committees
(...) 15. The Host Scoring Committee (i.e. the
Research Commission and a panel for the scoring
of the social competences) adheres to the
principles set out in the Code of Conduct for
the Recruitment of Researchers when scoring the
proposals of researchers. 16. The Scoring
Committee brings together diverse expertise and
competences (i.e. expertise on scoring scientific
and social competences) and has an adequate
gender balance and, where appropriate and
feasible, includes members from different
sectors (public and private) and disciplines and
with relevant experience to assess the candidate.
Members of the Scoring Committee should be
