• Habitat- the environment an animal or plant lives

Forest Ecosystems

• AN ECOSYSTEMWHERE THE MAIN PLANTS ARE TREES
• Coniferous Forest
• Deciduous Forest
• Coastal Forest
• Tropical Rain Forest

Coniferous Forest

• Seeds form in cones
• Shaped like triangles so that when it snows the
  snow will fall off the branches and not break
  them.
• Stay green all year long
• CHRISTMAS TREES

Deciduous Forest

• Leaves drop from the trees every year and regrow
  the leaves the next
• Leaves change color before the fall
• Leaves fall in the season Fall

Coastal Forest

• Grow where it is not to hot or cold
• Have tree layers
• Canopy
• Under story
• Forest Ground

Tropical Rain Forest

• Rains all the time
• Many animals and plants live here
• Must be warm and wet conditions to grow
• Has three layers
• Canopy, Under story, and
• Forest Ground

• Receive very little rain fall
• Cold deserts
• Hot deserts

• Have hot summers like a hot desert
• Have very cold winters, even have blizzards

Hot Deserts

• Have very hot and dry weather
• During the day the temperature gets up to 110 F
  and down to 45 f at night
• Animals play at night and stay in the shade
  during the day

• Salt Water Ecosystem

Fresh Water

• Water that has very little salt in the water
• Lakes, rivers, streams, ponds, and marshes
• Lakes and ponds have still water
• Rivers and streams have moving water

Salt Water

• Water that has a lot of salt in it
• Seas and Oceans
• Many animals live in salt water and have
  adaptations for them to live there
• Water is less salty at the surface because of
  rainfall
