What will you learn?
  • You will learn how to research and design a range
    of unique and exciting textile products for
    adults, teenagers or children.
  • You will learn a wide range of practical skills
    which you can use to make fashion garments,
    accessories, soft furnishings, toys and products
    for children.
  • You will learn how the fashion textiles we wear
    or the textiles we use at home are designed and
    made in Industry.

How you will be assessed?
  • 60 Coursework (Controlled Assessment)
  • 20 You will select a design brief and complete a
    20 page design folder, including pictures, ICT,
    samples and photographs.
  • 40 You will make the textile product that you
    have designed using a wide range of practical
    skills.
  • 40 Written Examination
  • This is a two hour exam at the end of Year 11
  • Part one Design questions.
  • Part two Knowledge and understanding Questions.

Textile Technology can lead to a variety of
exciting career opportunities in the fashion,
design and textile industries both in the UK and
overseas. It can lead to employment in
education and health and social care services and
could develop into working with the arts and the
media. Some designers develop modern textiles,
specialist materials which result in advanced
technologies (electronic fabrics, SMART
materials)
