URQUHART CASTLE
  • Its near Loch Ness. It was attacked many times
    so it was rebuilt.
  • Its story is very interesting. Saint Columba
visited the castle around 580 a.C. the Englis
king Edward the First took the castle in 1296 and
the MacDonalds, lords of the Isles, were there
    during the Middle Ages.

3
EILEAN DONAN CASTLE
  • Although the isle is surrounded by the sea, there
is a sweet water lake there.
  • It is known that the first people who lived in
that area were from the Iron Age

4
THE BUILIDING
  • Its known that the castle was first built in the
    18th century
  • During two centuries it was in ruins
  • The Lieutenant Colonel John MacRae-Gilstrap y
Farquhar MacRae, decided to rebuild it at the
    beginning of the 20th century.

5
It has been celebrated since 1950, when the
British Army decided to contribute to the famous
Edimburgh Festival of August. Each year the
music bands of the Armies from different
countries make a parade outside the Edimburh
Castle
6
ROYAL MILE
  • The Royal Mile ( Milla Real ) is formed by the
four old streets which joined the Edimburgh
Castle and the Holyroodhouse Palace during the
    Middle Age

7
OLYMPIC CITY
  • When I was there it was the month of the Olympic
    Games.

8
EDIMBURGH FESTIVAL
  • Its celebrated every year in August, from the
    6th to the 28th.
  • Many people play theatre in the street. There
are also many plays in pubs

9
FOOD
  • The pudding containing sheep's pluck (heart,
liver and lungs) minced with onion is called
    Haggies.
  • Its served with
  • neeps and tatties
  • (puré de colinabo
  • y patatas)

10
Typical things
  • Scottish men wear skirt called kilts
  • They can play the bagpipes, a very typical
