Threat of noise pollution
  • Noise is a disturbance to the human environment
that is escalating at such a high rate that it
will become a major threat to the quality of
    human lives.
  • In the past thirty years, noise in all areas,
especially in urban areas, have been increasing
    rapidly.
  • Too much noise can cause much damage to the
    environment.

4
Causes of noise pollution
  • -The major sources of noise are road traffic,
air traffic, rail traffic, industry and
    recreational activities.
  • -Minor sources of noise can be, an office, a
hairdryer in use, and indoor conversations.

5
Loud music causes
  • -Any kind of loud music can cause temporary and
    permanent hearing loss.
  • -Items such as ipods can cause much damage to the
    ear.
  • -Constant pounding music and noise that goes on
for long periods of time are common causes of
    deafness.

6
How much db can a person take?
  • A person can take approximately up to 70 decibals
before they are being disturbed which can lead to
    physical and mental problems.
  • Air Raid Sirens (140 decibels)
  • Airplane Taking Off and Thunder (120 decibels)
  • Garbage Truck (100 decibels)
  • City Traffic and Truck Driver (90 decibels)
  • Alarm Clock and Hairdryer (80 decibels)

7
How it affects our health
  • Excessive noise levels can also lead to the
increase of heart rate, blood pressure, and blood
    cholesterol.
  • It also has potential to harm the respiratory
    and digestive systems.
  • The loud noise going around affects people in
    many ways.

8
How to reduce noise pollution
  • New engine technologies
  • More efficient traffic management schemes.
  • Increasing public awareness of noise by
    providing factual information
  • Introducing noise zones along traffic routes
    and around airports
  • Legal specification of maximum noise emission
    from products

9
Summary
  • Over the years noise has increased
dramatically. Much noise can cause serious
injuries to the environment. It affects the
health of humans in several ways. If people dont
start taking charge of whats going around, many
    people can be affected.
