2. Progress in the past 2 years
  • Absorbed and completely taken over the work of
    predecessor entity SAFCERT in quality
    assuring the senior certificate and technical
    certificate examinations and issuing
    certificates.
  • Established a quality assurance system for the
    General Education and Training Certificate (GETC)
    examination for adults equivalent to grade 9 -
    first certificates issued end of 2003

  • Put in place a provisional accreditation system
    for private providers to relieve the
    accreditation pressure in the system
  • Conducted a comprehensive research on the
    standards of the senior certificate examinations
    public release will be done soon

  • Finalised the establishment of a functional
    organisation- whose appointments increased from
    9 permanently employed individuals to the current
    43 persons
  • Supported a fully functioning governance body and
    its statutory ( Executive and Audit) and
    non-statutory committees.

  • Understanding our responsibilities for the
    quality assurance of provincial Departments
  • Building a firm base for the accreditation
    process of private providers

  • Improving the existing quality assurance system
    of high stakes examinations, e.g. matric.
  • Establishing a new certification environment for
    the coming FETC
