Title: Full-Spectrum Leadership
1(No Transcript)
2Full-Spectrum Leadership
Have you ever wondered why there are some many
books on leadership? Well I think I figured it
out. The answer is because no one knows
precisely what it is. If we could all agree on a
definition of leadership then the definitive
book on leadership would have been written a long
time ago.
3Full-Spectrum Leadership
To prove my point, I did a search on book titles
with the word leadership in the Amazon.com
website. The search yielded over 189,000 hits.
A search on the words leadership development
yielded over 13,000 book titles. Clearly there
are many different perspectives on leadership.
4Full-Spectrum Leadership
I approach the topic of leadership from the same
perspective that I approach the analysis of all
human motivations - from the perspective of
consciousness. Viewed from the perspective of
consciousness, it is possible to categorize the
list of book titles on Amazon.com into single or
multiple categories that relate to the level of
leadership consciousness the authors are focusing
on.
5Full-Spectrum Leadership
Each of the authors is giving us a perspective
on leadership that reflects who they are, what
they believe is important, and their experiences.
They are writing from the perspective of what
they believe or value, and what they believe or
value is a reflection of the levels of
consciousness they are operating from, and
consequently the levels of consciousness they are
writing from.
6Full-Spectrum Leadership
This of course is what I am doing also. However,
what is different, in my case, is that I am
taking a full-spectrum approach to consciousness.
What I am saying is that all these different
perspectives are important and each perspective
can be located within a framework of
consciousness known as the Seven Levels of
Consciousness model.
7Full-Spectrum Leadership
- I am also saying something else that is very
important.. - There must be a link between
- Self-Actualization
- The Evolution of Personal Consciousness
- Leadership Development
- Why?
- Because they are all linked to the same big
idea.
8Full-Spectrum Leadership
The big idea is as follows. The levels of
consciousness an organisation operates from are a
reflection of the personal consciousness of the
leaders. Therefore organisational
transformation begins with the personal
transformation of the leaders. The personal
transformation of the leaders is what leadership
development is about. Full-spectrum
organisations are led by full-spectrum leaders.
Full-spectrum organisations are the most
successful organisations on the planet.

levels of consciousness we are operating from at
any moment in time.
Self-Actualization
16Self-Actualization
The only happy people I know are the ones who
are working well at something they consider
important. This is a universal truth for all
self-actualizing people.
Abraham Maslow
17Self-Actualization
1. Superior perception of reality. 2. Increased
acceptance of self, others and of nature. 3.
Improved interpersonal relations. 4. More
democratic character. 5. Increased identification
with the human species. 6. Increased
spontaneity. 7. Increase in problem-solving. 8.
Greatly increased creativity.
Abraham Maslow
