Title: Spanish II Review of
1Spanish II Review of Regular -ar, -er, -ir Verbs
Yo hablo español. María no habla inglés. Hablas
español? Nosotros no hablamos español en la clase
de historía. Los alumnos hablan español en la
biblioteca.
2Remember that the stem, or root of the verb
contains the meaning of the word while the verb
is conjugated according to its subject (person
performing the action), number, voice, mood and
tense. For example, the verbs hablar, hablan,
hablaron, hablaba, hablaría, and hable all carry
the inherent meaning of to speak, but each of
the endings carries additional information about
the verb and how it acts with the subject.
This means your verb ending will change according
to the tense you are using and the person who is
completing the action. This is called
conjugating the verb. So, lets review.
3Subject Pronouns who completes the actions?
4hablar to speak

comer to eat

vivir to live

5Remember that if a verb is not conjugated it is
in its infinitive form (with the word to in
front of it in English, like to eat).
Infinitive verbs in Spanish end in -AR, -ER, -IR,
like comer (to eat) - Yo quiero comer un taco - I
want to eat a taco.
Each verb you will learn this year you will learn
in the infinitive form. It is up to you to know
their proper endings when conjugating to a
subject (he, she, I , you, etc.), tense (past,
present, future, etc.) and mood (to be covered
later).
So, without further ado, lets learn some
