2Where is the energy coming from?
current power consumption is 13 TW

4Is this path sustainable?
Remember that all of this fossil fuel combustion
is releasing CO2. How high will CO2
concentrations go? That, of course, depends on
what actions we take!!!! WRE figure for
Wrigley, Richels, and Edmonds Wrigley, T.M.L.,
Richels, R., Edmonds, J. (1996) Economic
and environmental choices in the stabilization of
atmospheric CO2 concentrations. Nature, 379,
240-243 Emissions pathways that lead to CO2
stabilization levels What is the energy mix
pathway that leads to stabilization of
atmospheric CO2 at 450 ppm? WRE 450 path Higher
WRE number means that we are using high intensity
fossil fuel mix, and slowly transitioning to
non-CO2 emitting energy pathways.
5CO2 concentration
How much CO2 are we going to put in the
atmosphere?? That is up to YOU!!

2/3 of energy consumed to produce electricity is
lost!!!
