• I am the size of a medium dog. I'm 20-36kg and
  76-112cm. I have shades of brown, black and beige
  in my short spotted fur.I have four toes instead
  of five. I have large sharp jagged teeth.

Where do I live?

• I live in savannas, grasslands and open
  woodlands.I am only found in Africa near south
  sahara desert. I do not migrate.

What do I eat?

• Iam a carnivore. I love to eat antelo wildbeast,
  springboks, gazelles and impala.pe, zebras,

How are my young born

• p
• We develoin our mother and our young are born
  once a year after a 2 1-2 month gestation. Our
  litters average about 10 pups. We are usually
  born in a shelter of thick grass or bush.

How are young cared for?

• All members of the pack care for the puppies.
  Pups open their eyes at 3 weeks old. The adults
  teach them how to hunt. At first, pups only eat
  food already chewed by mom or dad. The babies
  are able to hunt with the pack when they are 3
  months old. They care for themselves when they
  are 1 year old.

Who are my enemies?

• Luckily, I don't have many natural enemies,but
  sometimes lions and leopards kill me. Humans are
  our greatest predator. We try and protect
  ourselves by running 56 km per hour. I hide my
  babies in a bush and I fight to protect my babies.

Am I endangered?

• Yes it's true, only a few thousand remain in the
  wild. We have been shot down and poisoned by
  farmers and hunters. We have also lost our
  habitat. Sometimes we get diseases like rabies
  and many of the pack get sick and die.
