Report Cards

• Common Core, essential standards are on report
  card but there are many more that students need
  to learn.
• Standards are END of the year but graded on
  benchmarks.
• All work is checked for completeness but may not
  have a grade.

Homework

• Generally 30-40min. per night
• Additional 20min. of reading NIGHTLY
• Homework is Friday to Friday
• Study multiplication facts nightly
• Incomplete class work may become homework
• Book reports and special projects will be
  assigned throughout the year
• Cursive needs to be practiced at home
• If concerns please send note/email

Math Homework

• Think Mind SetI dont have it YET!
• Students will be asked to use thinking and
  problem solving skills though strategies.
• However, fact fluency is also important. Mastery
  of addition, subtraction, and multiplication
  facts are expected by the end of the year.

Multiplication

• VERY IMPORTANT!
• Must study at home, in addition to other homework
• Standard is to have memorized facts 0-10
• End of Trimester 1 should master 1-5
• End of Trimester 2 should master 6-10

Tests and Studying

• Most weeks (usually Friday)
• Spelling test
• Story / Comprehension/Skills / Vocabulary test
• Multiplication facts test
• Math test
• Books will be sent home on Thursdays so students
  can prepare for the test on Friday. Please read
  with them!!

Parent/Teacher Communication

• Check parent section of your childs homework
  binder every Friday.
• Remove any correspondence that does not require
  action.
• Website is new and I will communicate with you
  when I begin using it.
