Rights of Way
  • Very similar to the highway code, stops cars
    hitting each other.
  • These rules govern how aircraft move about the
    sky.

  • Balloons have the right of way over ALL other
    aircraft.

  • Gliders have the right of way over powered
    aircraft and airships

  • Airships must give way to gliders and balloons.

  • Powered conventional aircraft must give way to
    balloons, gliders and airships.

  • When 2 identical types of aircraft are
    approaching, they both alter course to the right.

  • When 2 identical types of aircraft are converging
    on the same path, the left aircraft gives way.

  • When an aircraft wishes to overtake it moves to
    the right
  • If both aircraft are gliders, the overtaking
    glider can go left or right.

    right of way.
  • Aircraft being taxied give way to those being
    towed.
