  • Mrs. Lane- Masters degree in E.C.E from KSU, 7
    years teaching

Language Arts Curriculum
  • Our new adoption is a product of Pearson
  • Publishing
  • Consists of high frequency words, blending,
    choral reading, and partner talk
  • Sight word recognition included in teaching- no
    weekly spelling test
  • Begin next week

First Grade Curriculum
  • Language Arts short/long vowels, syllables,
    word blending/chunking, word families, decoding,
    spelling patterns, fluency, expression, voice,
    vocabulary, reading and comprehending a variety
    of texts and genres
  • Handwriting- Manuscript (see card on desk)
  • Writing writers workshop, writing process,
    narrative writing, informational writing, author
    study
  • Math number facts to 20, data and graphing,
    representing and comparing numbers to 100,
    geometric figures, fractions, counting money,
    time, measurement, double digit addition and
    subtraction
  • Science types of weather, seasonal changes,
    weather data and instruments, changes in water,
    forms of precipitation, water cycle, magnets,
    sound/pitch/volume, sources of light and shadows,
    basic needs of plants and animals, parts of a
    plant, animal classifications
  • Social Studies continents, oceans, landforms,
    maps and globes, cardinal and intermediate
    directions, location of city/state/country,
    American historical figures, goods and services,
    producers and consumers, personal spending and
    saving
  • Health friendship and cooperation, conflict
    resolution, personal health and safety, germs,
    good hygiene practices, nutrition

Safety
  • Sign in at front office even if you are coming in
    for 5 minutes
  • Sit at guest table when eating lunch with your
    child, other children are not allowed
  • Send notes regarding afternoon schedule changes
  • Students cannot return to the room after 245
    p.m.

Behavior Plan
  • Students will have the opportunity for positive
    reinforcement on a daily basis.
  • The Oh No! book will be signed when a behavior
    needs to be addressed (2 times in a week is a
    phone call home and a on the weekly report)
  • A treasure box will be implemented after the
    first week
  • (We will always need treats to fill the box?)
  • Daily behavior plans will be implemented on an as
    needed basis

Emergency Information
  • Allergies, Please verbally let me know of any
    allergies your child may have
  • Medication (must be bought to school by the
    parents and kept in the clinic)
  • Fevers free for 48 hours prior to returning to
    school

Tardiness and Absences
  • Maximum instructional time
  • Interrupts instruction
  • Student misses valuable instruction
  • Excuse absence- doctor, dentist, etc.
  • Try to schedule doctors appointments after
    school hours.
  • Refer to Cobb calendar for dates to schedule appt.

Grading
  • 4 ½ week progress reports only go out if there is
    a need
  • 9 week report cards
  • 3,2,1 standards based report card
  • O, S, N (Outstanding, Satisfactory, Needs
    Improvement) Science, S.S. and Health
