Fourth Grade

• What is different about fourth grade?
• Multiple teachers, change classes, lockers, more
  materials to keep organized
• What should I expect?
• More content, more responsibility and
  independence, more long term assignments, and
  twenty minutes of reading each night

Supply List

• 1 zipper 3 ring binder. (Trapper Keeper)
• 1 regular 2 inch 3 ring binder
• 1 pocket folder
• Pencils (at least 12 pencils)
• Zipper pencil pouch/ bag that can be put in a
  three ring binder

• Glue stick
• 1 set of Dry-Erase markers
• Headphones/Ear buds
• 2 clear page protectors
• 5 dividers for three ring binder

Lockers

• Each student has his/her own locker.
• Students will keep their personal belongings in
  their lockers during the school day.
• There are no locks on the lockers.
• Magnets and mirrors can be used. Please avoid
  using stickers to decorate the lockers.

Math- Flexible Grouping

• Teachers will administer a math pretest at the
  beginning of each marking period. The test will
  contain questions related to the upcoming units
  of study. The students will then be grouped based
  on their needs.
• Flexible grouping creates temporary groups
  based on particular units of study. The students
  will be regrouped throughout the year.

• Behavior Plan
• We will start the year using a ticket system.
  Students will receive tickets for outstanding
  behavior and exceptional classwork. Each week, we
  will gather all the tickets and have a drawing
  for prizes. The more tickets students have, the
  better their chances are!

Please remember to check your childs assignment
book and take-home folder each night for homework
and important information!

Consequences

• If students display behaviors that do not adhere
  to the school-wide behavior expectations, parents
  will be contacted via email, phone call, or a
  written note.
• Students may lose portions of recess due to
  misbehavior or incomplete assignments.
• If the behavior continues or the infraction is
  more serious, a BIR (behavior incident report)
  may be issued. This will involve a loss of the
  SWEBS reward and possibly a meeting with
  administrators to determine further consequences.
  BIRs can be given at school, recess, and on the
  bus.

Homework

• Regular homework assignments will include reading
  for 20 minutes each night. Math homework will
  also be given regularly to reinforce strategies
  learned in class. Students are expected to review
  for social studies and science.
• Team Homework Policy
• Warning and complete at home for 1st missed
  assignment in a marking period
• Homework Help during recess for 2nd missed
  assignment in a marking period
• Parent contact (email or phone call) for 3rd
  missed assignment in a marking period
