3Soviet Unions effect on Eastern Europe
- On page 6 in Burrito Book
- The economies of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and
Poland suffered because the Soviet Union did not
build a decent infrastructure during the Cold War
(1945-1991.)

- Infrastructure the set of resources, like roads,
airports, utilities, and factories that a country
needs to support economic activities (jobs and
businesses).

6Monday we will look at why Czechoslovakia split
in half and why Yugoslavia became 5 different
countries..and why all of this happened after
the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991.
7A Story.
- Will and Sam do not like each other. They must
sit next to each other in class, but it is very
difficult for them. - If it wasnt for their very strict teacher who is
always watching them, they would probably have
fought each other by now. - Will thinks that Sam is always making fun of
him.Sam thinks that Will thinks hes too good
for him. - All in all, they really despise each other.

- They have had to sit beside each other all year
long and pretend to get along because their
teacher is always standing over them. - .then one day.
- Will and Sam were particularly angry with each
other, and the teacher was called to the office.
No adult was in the room. - What might happen between Will and Sam?

- This story will directly relate to Eastern
Europe. - The Soviet Union forced ethnic groups to live
side by side for about 50 years whether they got
along or not. - However, in 1991, the Soviet Union broke apart
and ceased to exist.what might happen to these
ethnic groups?
