Title: Timetable

1
Timetable
  • 30.09.2003 Submission of draft Reports to LAT
  • The reports must be simple and straightforward
    (see proposal of contents)
  • We do not deal with production of emission
    factors
  • 10.10.2003 Submission of draft reports to the
    Commission
  • December 2003 Final Submission to the Commission
(incorporating comments of the Commission and
    upgrades)
  • LAT continues to work on emission factors in
Artemis. Ends September 2004. Communication with
    all Particulates partners
  • In particular collaboration with TUG

2
Data BaseWhat can be done and when?
  • Shortly (next week)
  • Volvo ETC data and SS clarifications
  • Losses (basically ELPI 40 flat)
  • IFP Data maybe if submitted early next week
  • Plus graphics macro
  • Later
  • AVL ELPI and CPC clarifications/ corrections
    (SMPS?)
  • TUG SMPS/DC levels for IVECO
  • Shell SMPS, ELPI/DGI post-calculations
  • Remark The data base is not as large as one
expected. Deleting vehicles and measurements will
    decrease its size further

3
Deliverables to be submitted end of September
  • D9 Data Base presentation and description (LAT)
  • D10 Particulate characterisation from current
    vehicles (LAT)
  • D11 Comparison of PM exhaust emissions measured
at a chassis dynamometer and on-road chasing on a
    test track (FFA LAT)
  • D12 Particulate and PM characterisation in
    non-legislative conditions (sub-zero ambient
    temperatures) (EMPA MTC)
  • D13 Effects on particulate emissions of
    anticipated future engine and exhaust
    aftertreatment technologies complying with future
    emission standards (Volvo) (correlations omitted)
  • D14 Effects on particulate emissions and
relevance of fuel quality for emission factors
    (Concawe)
  • D15 Relevance of current PM emission standards
and further aspects of particulate properties to
be taken into account (Concawe Volvo) 15-10-03
  • ? D16 Final summary report of the project (LWA)

4
Additional issues
  • INERIS Report. In D2?
  • Results of PAH analysis
  • Results of Heavy Metal Analysis
  • Lab Reports (Volvo, VTT, MTC provided)
  • Input from David Kittelson on comparisons between
    US and Particulates data
  • VKA Report
  • Need for updated
  • D2 Vehicle exhaust particulates
    characterisation- properties, instrumentation and
    sampling requirements (TUT)
  • D3 Sampling conditions and relevant protocol for
    particulate characterisation (EMPA)?
  • D7 Roadside measurements results (TUG)
  • D8 Non-exhaust particulate measurements results
(TRL) What do we expect here?

5
New structure for December final submission
  • So far each deliverable was written independently
    from one another
  • Overlaps between deliverables
  • Similar structure but difficulties as well
  • Need to change the task split - Proposal
  • Diesel light duty (LAT)
  • Diesel heavy duty (Volvo)
  • Gasoline light duty esoteric fuels (Concawe)

6
Proposal for a commonDeliverable
Structure(based on Concawes structure)
  • Gaseous Pollutants (mainly for reference)
  • PM
  • Transient PM (emphasis on regulated cycle)
  • Steady state (DGI PM checking)
  • Mass-weighted size distribution (DGI)
  • Wet branch (CPC-DC-SMPS)
  • Transient (emphasis on regulated cycle)
  • Steady state (DC/CPC/SMPS comparisons, surface,
    mean diameter)
  • Number-weighted size distributions
  • Dry branch (ELPI)
  • Transients (emphasis on regulated cycle)
  • Steady state total number
  • Solid number-weighted size distribution

7
How the final Report (D16) should look
like?(December 2003)
  • Two parts
  • First part Design of the sampling and
measurement system and protocol and confirmation
    of its robustnessbased on D2, D3, D4, D5, D6,
D7, D11(and on the recent SAE paper as well as
    on the papers under preparation)
  • Second part Test results and first level
    evaluation
  • A third part should include conclusions,
    comparisons and outlook
  • Part 1 can be ready by the end of September
  • Part 2 has to be postponed for November
  • Annexes D2, D3, (D5), D6s, D7, D8, D11, DLDV,
    GLDVfuels, HDV
