  • Purpose
  • To determine if restorative yoga techniques can
    improve overall function, mobility, posture, or
    safety in patients post-stroke who no longer
    demonstrate improvements in rehabilitation.
  • Hypothesis
  • It is hypothesized that restorative yoga
    techniques will increase range of motion (ROM) in
    the elbow, knee, and ankle, thereby improving
    overall function, mobility, posture, and safety
    in patients post-stroke who no longer demonstrate
    improvements in rehabilitation.
  • Subject
  • Exclusion Criteria
  • Cognitive impairments that would limit
    participants ability to comprehend instructions
  • A grade of 3 on the Ashworth Tone Scale
  • Presentation of spasticity
  • Participation in any other kind of
    rehabilitation treatment program

  • IRB approval from Wheeling Jesuit University
  • Informed Consent form
  • A case study
  • 1 female volunteer, lt 60 years of age 1 year
    post-stroke

PROM RESULTS
  • CONCLUSIONS
  • The results of this case study found that the
    restorative yoga techniques indicated a slight
    increase in range of motion, but no change was
    found in the subjects function during activities
    of daily living.
  • There were no significant changes in the
    subjects posture from pre-test to post-test.
  • Due to the many limiting factors such as
    hospitalization for respiratory complications,
    cancellations, and enrollment in another physical
    therapy intervention, the results from this study
    are not conclusive.
