3 Mediterranean region takes its name from the
Mediterranean Sea. West and Mid-Taurus
mountains run parallel to the coast line.
There are 8 cities in our region Antalya,
Adana, Mersin, Hatay, Isparta, Burdur,
Kahramanmaras, and Osmaniye.
4Agriculture, industry, tourism and carpet weaving
are the basic professions in our region. 80 of
Turkey's oranges and mandarins are grown here,
bananas are only grown in the Mediterranean
Region in Turkey.

Burdur is a small city which is known as Lakes
Region". Its historical remains date as far as
6000 BC.
8The most appealing features of Burdur are Insuyu
Cave, the second largest cave of the world and

province and is considered to be one of the
cleanest lakes in the world.

Because of the archeological and natural riches
of the area, Antalya is called the Turkish
Riviera. The city was founded in the second
century B.C. by Attalus II, a king of Pergamon,
and he named the city Attaleai after himself.
Romans, Byzantines and Selcuks in turn occupied
the city before it came under Ottoman rule.

Mediterranean shore. In Mersin you may find all
the comforts of a modern city and all the
characteristics of the Mediterranean cities.

The city's name originates from mythology. Adana
was founded by Adanus, the son of Cronus (God of
Weather, Zeus father).

(Kaypak) Castles.

The original name of the city was Maras. During
the War of Independence people in Maras were so
brave that the city was given the title
