Did you know that the sun, wind and rain can be
used to make electricity? Lets find out how.
Hows that? They just make me hot, cold or wet!
There is much more power in the weather than you
think. Lets see how we can use it!

Rainwater can be very useful.
If we collect it in a water butt like this one
then we can use it to water the garden.

We can also use rainwater to produce electricity.
The water that collects in streams and rivers
is stored in a lake called a reservoir, held in
by a wall called a dam.
The water that flows out through the dam is used
to turn a turbine and it makes electricity.

We can use the power in wind to make electricity
too.
As the wind turns the turbine it produces
electricity. This one is in a school

We can also use the sun to make electricity using
solar panels. Solar panels get plenty of
sunlight on the roofs of houses and schools. They
turn the suns energy into electricity.
