• A crest is the highest point of a wave
• A trough is the lowest point of a wave
• The distance between one crest and the next, or
  one trough and the next, is the Wave length
• The distance in height between the crest and the
  trough is called the Wave height

• Ocean waves form when energy is transferred from
  a source to the ocean water.
• Most ocean waves form as wind blows across the
  waters surface and transfers energy to the
  water.
• Ocean waves can travel at different speeds
