Setting a standard why?

• Objective to be able to compare performance
• For Inkjet Toner, monochrome
• Toner, colour
• Under leadership of CEN (Comité Europeene pour
  Normalisation)
• Participants all national CEN-members, both
  recyclers and oems

CEN European Authority for Normalisation

• Members all national authorities, such as
• DIN (D)
• BSI (UK)
• AENOR (E)
• AFNOR (F)
• UNI (I) (only Epson!)
• NEN (NL) (Dupra for example)
• Basically oem controlled

Process and Results

• 6 meetings were held
• Intense discussions between Recyclers and OEMs,
  for the first time sitting at the same table
• The proposed standard is different from what we
  initially wanted compromise
• Now ask opinion of ALL national authorities
• Definite version end 2006

Consequences

• FOR THE FIRST TIME WE WILL HAVE AN INTERNATIONAL
  STANDARD!!
• Made in direct cooperation with ALL major OEMs
• Comparison with OEMs possible, using the
  standard they agreed upon!
• CE approval (CE label on products)
