communicate a certain piece of information for a
particular purpose in such a way that it can be
    understood .

InstructionsMaking a Paper Snowflake
  1. Take a piece of square paper and fold it in half
so that you have a big triangle
  2. Now fold that triangle in half to make a smaller
    triangle.
  3. Now hold your triangle with the longest side at
    the top
  4. Next, fold the right-hand corner over towards the
middle until it is directly above the bottom
point of the triangle and press the edges down
    firmly.
  5. Now fold the left hand corner towards the middle
until it crosses over the right-hand point.
    Press the edges down firmly.
  6. Now, cut of the two points that are sticking up,
in a straight line underneath them.
  7. You should be left with a triangle. The tallest
point will be the center of your snowflake. Now
you get to cut out your pattern.
  8. When your pattern is cut out, unfold the paper
    and display your beautiful snowflake.

ReportsPolice Report
  • On April 23, 2094, Mr. John Doe arrived at his
residence at 1234 Deer Lane, Anywhere, California
67601. The time was 935 p.m. Mr. Doe found the
front door of his home wide open. He could see
that someone had hit the door with something very
heavy as part of it was split and the lock was
lying on the floor. Mr. Wilson went to his next
door neighbors house and called the police. The
police arrived at about 1015 p.m. and contacted
Mr. Wilson on the sidewalk in front of his home.
The house was searched for a suspect, but none
was found. The entire house had been searched by
the suspect, and the suspect had thrown clothes
and drawers on the floor. The rear door was wide
open. Mr. Wilson told the police that he had
locked that door as well. Mr. Wilson stated that
when he left for work at 700 a.m. all was secure.

The History ofChocolate Chip Cookies
9
  • The chocolate chip cookie was accidentally
developed by Ruth Graves Wakefield. Ruth was the
owner of the Toll House Inn in Massachusetts in
1937. Ruth was making chocolate cookies but ran
out of regular bakers chocolate and substituted
broken pieces of semi-sweet chocolate assuming it
would melt and mix into the batter. However, it
did not, and the cookie with chips of chocolate
    was born.
  • Ruth sold the recipe to Nestle in exchange for a
lifetime supply of chocolate chips. Now every
bag of Nestle chocolate chips in North America
has Ruth Wakefields original recipe printed on
    the back.
  • Did you know that today, half of the cookies
baked in American homes are chocolate-chip, with
an estimated seven billion consumed annually.
