Project Basis Goals

• Utility company, 6,000 assets
• Desktops, servers, network devices (excludes
  apps)
• Experienced difficulty discovering tracking
  assets
• Better change control needed asset data is
  foundational
• Cost concerns (software and hardware related)
• Service level security / access concerns
• Formerly used Novell products (Zen)
• Decided on CMDB Implementation Project w/ BMC
• Already a big AR / Remedy user
• Strong BMC discovery capabilities (agent
  agentless)
• Most mature CMDB in marketplace (including
  integrations)
• Full BMC config. management suite can be
  implemented over time
• Desktop, Laptop, Server, Apps, Virt. Machines,
  Network, etc.
• Noted increasing integration in BMC portfolio was
  happening year over year
• Previous internal integration efforts had failed
