Delaware Valley Lacrosse Del Val Jr. Lacrosse
was started after the tragic events of September
11, 2001, as a regional feeder program for Del
Val High School. The idea behind the program was
to embrace a simple philosophy best described as
Honor the Game. This meant teaching young
people life lessons through lacrosse
sportsmanship, effort on and off the field,
respect for opponents, respect for teammates,
respect for coaches, hard work, dedication, etc.
While having a philosophy that many families
wanted to be a part of is a start, it was a long
way from actually fielding a lacrosse team.
Immediately the program faced financial hurdles
including buying equipment (250/player,) money
for referees, money for fields, and uniforms, and
goals, and balls, and . . . . But as a true
testament to the Del Val area, one by one,
individuals, families, and companies started
coming forward to help with our mission. Some
parents started a concessions stand, literally
out of the back of their car to help raise funds,
others donated, money and other items the team
needed. Through the years a concession stand, a
picnic grove, trees, etc. have all been donated
by members of the Lacrosse program to Alexandria
Park. Additionally, Del Val Jr. Lacrosse
provides a scholarship for a graduating Boy and
Girl from Del Val High School, as well as a camp
scholarship to a boy and girl from the youth
program. Perhaps the most monumental
contribution has been the building of two
multi-purpose fields at Del Val High School for
use by the High School Lacrosse team. This
herculean effort by an individual in the club,
for the betterment of our area, is a testament to
the Del Val Lacrosse mentality- selflessness
contributions because our mission is such a
vitale- investment in the youth of our area.
Today, Del Val Jr. Lacrosse has over 220 members
in the youth program and Freshman, JV, and
Varsity Boys and Girls programs at the High
School. Your contributions from the golf outing
will assist both the High School and Jr. Lacrosse
programs with continuing their mission. Thank
you for your support! Honor the Game! Brent
