  • Write a well-developed paragraph in which you use
    ideas from both passages to establish a
    controlling idea about the feeling of the month
    of October. Develop your controlling idea using
    specific examples and details from each passage.

Aim To write a response for 27.Classwork
  • Directions Choose a specific literary element
    (theme, characterization, structure, point of
    view, etc.) or literary technique (symbolism,
    irony, figurative language, etc.) used by one of
    the authors. Use specific details from that
    passage. In a well-developed paragraph, show how
    the author uses that element or technique to
    develop the passage. (Follow structure)

Notes on Example 27
  • Be as specific as possible. Give title and author
    of the passage you are using.
  • Define the literary element you are using. For
    example, if you are using irony let your reader
    know that it is the opposite of what is expected.
  • If the element can be further defined indicate
    that as well. (Conflict. There are four types
    of conflict).
  • Give quotations from one of the passages that
    show the element. You should use at least two
    quotations.
