1Junior Achievement 4.4
2Vocabuary Review
- Resume
- A summary of a persons work and school
experience, as well as personal information that
helps potential employers determine whether a
person is right for a particular job.
3Six essential qualities are the key to success
sincerity, personal integrity, humility,
courtesy, wisdom, charity. - William Menninger
4Do you agree with this statement?
5How would you define success?
6Today you will have a chance to show these
qualities of integrity, humility, courtesy,
wisdom, and charity as you participate in a mock
job interview.
7Lets define our terms
- Integrity
- Being as good as your word
- Humility
- Give credit to others if they helped you
- Courtesy
- Showing good manners
- Wisdom
- Smartness that comes from experience
- Charity
- Being generous and giving back to others
8Lets not forget honesty!
- Honesty has a special term in business. Its
called business ethics. Ethics are the standard
that help determine what is good, right, and
proper.
9Its important to show all these qualities in a
job interview.
- A job interview is a meeting between employer and
a job applicant. The employer finds out whether
the applicant is suitable (a good match) for
the job.
10- Applicant means someone who is looking for a
job. They request or seek employment.
11The key component to a strong interview is the
handshake.
12Its important to make eye contact and have a
firm grip.
13A firm handshake and a greeting set the tone for
the interview.
14Lets practice giving a greeting and a firm
handshake.
15One of the most important things you can do to
prepare for an interview is to think ahead. What
questions might the interviewer ask you?
- (You can probably guess many of the most common
questions.)
16Turn to pages 58 and 59 in your workbook Making
the Right Impression. These are some of the
questions an interviewer might ask. What would
your answers be?
17Its time to try out these answers on a practice
interview. Meet in groups of three. One person is
the interviewer, one is the applicant, and one
person evaluates. Use page 60 to mark your
evaluation. Take turns.
18Practice makes perfect! Knowing what is going to
be asked helps you to be friendly, focused and
confident. Please complete the Word Map on page
61 when you are done.
19Tomorrow, during Junior Achievement, you will be
called down to the media center for an interview.
This is your chance to make a great impression!
Dress appropriately and practice your interview
skills tonight. Good Luck!
