Title:
1 WORLD WAR I
By Henry Nonack, Renee Tallman, and Janice
Uricchio
(Russia Atlas Maps, n.d)
2Reasons for Entering the War
- The Russians orriginally joined due to the fact
that they had treaties with Serbia and France,
and were therefore forced to defend Serbia and
France (The Causes of World, n.d.). - Russia also wanted to defend their trade ports
in the south, which Germany was going to block
off with a rail-line. (McLaughlin, 2011)
(Wiki Double-headed Eagle, n.d.).
3Short Term Effects
- Russia joins the Triple Entente in 1907 along
Britain and France. (Russia and the First, n.d.).
- Many people were now faced with poverty. Families
were separated as soldiers went off to fight in
the war. People were injured and many soldiers
died. - Russia lost a total of 1,700,000 soldiers during
World War One. (Military Casualties of World,
n.d.).
(The Road to War, n.d.).
4Long Term Effects

Casualties Of World War One. nd.) - Russia became a communist country after the
communist revolution while the Tsar was away
during the war. - (Union of Soviet, 2011).

6("The Assassination of Tsar," n.d.).
7Themes of Global Studies
- Utopia and Terror
- The black hand assassinated Franz Ferdinand to
bring their country closer to a better place.
This sparked the war, which brought terror to
Russia and the other countries involved. - Rise of Mass Society
- The black hand was forcefully demanding rights
and change in their country, which is why they
assainated Franz Ferdinand. -

8- Global Interrelatedness
- Throughout the World War, the entire world
became involved through the Alliances. Russia
became involved because of Serbia and then Russia
brought in France - Identity and Difference
- War changed people's lifestyle. Their normal
lifestyle was changed to a more militaristic
lifestyle. Family members left to war and the
ones left behind encountered propaganda and war
protests. - Technology vs. Nature
- New technologies were created for the army and
navy. They began to use newly created machine
guns, tanks and airplanes. The war also did a
great damage on surrounding nature.(http//www.lis
