Electrical Safety
  • Serious accidents can happen to the most
    experienced electrical workers
  • About 10 electrical workers killed each week due
    to electrical accidents in US
  • 90 of all electrical injuries happen to people
with 4 to 8 years job experience
  • If you witness a person receiving an electric
shock, then do not become a second victim
  • If possible, de-energize the circuit
  • If available, use a non-conductive tool to
disengage the worker from the live part
  • Call x2222
  • If trained, begin CPR if person is unresponsive

3
Exposure to Arc Flash
  • 75 of all electrical injuries are burns
resulting from arc flash and ignition of clothing
  • More than 2000 electrical workers admitted to
hospitals in US each year for severe electrical
    burns
  • 15 result in amputation

4
Arc Flash Labels
  • You will see warning labels that look like this
