13
Homework Policy
  • Homework is due at the beginning of class on the
assigned date. If an assignment is turned in
late it will be reduced by 10.

14
Class Rules
  • In Mrs. Downs FACS Education Classroom there are
    only three simple rules
  • Be respectful.
  • Remain in your work area and on task.
  • No food, candy, or drink.

15
What happens if I break the rules?
  • Every person can have a bad day, each day you
will start over with zero offenses.
  • 1st offense- Verbal Warning
  • 2nd offense- LTD
  • Referral to principal
  • If behavior is a constant problem, other actions
    may be taken.

16
What do I do if I miss class?
  • As a student it is your responsibility to find
out what work or notes you have missed. If you
missed a test, quiz, lab or module you will need
to setup a time with Mrs. Downs to make up that
work. Mrs. Downs will not find you to let you
know what you missed it is your duty to find out
    what you missed.

17
What happens if I am tardy to class?
  • According to HHMS Handbook rules, after your
third tardy to class you will receive a LTD. In
keeping with the handbook rules, consecutive
    tardies will result in LTDs/referrals.

18
What do I do if I finish my work early in class?
  • When you are finished with your assignment for
the day you are not to sit and talk. Please get
an activity from the extra credit area in the
classroom, read a book, play Bloop or work on
    another quiet activity.
  • It is important to be respectful of the other
students in the class and not disrupt their
learning. If you are talking and goofing off,
you are disrupting them and being disrespectful.
  • Questions?

19
Class Expectations
  • The following list are expectations I have for
you. I know that each of you have your own
unique talents and abilities. This is the
perfect type of class to let those shine, but we
need to also make sure we are making responsible
choices as some of the labs in this class could
be dangerous. If you can abide by all of these
expectations, then you will have a successful
    semester in FACS class.
  • Be respectful of self and others (including their
    work and belongings.)
  • Follow ALL directions. (They are there for your
    safety.)
  • Be in your seat when the bell rings.
  • Use and treat all equipment appropriately (some
equipment is dangerous and requires care.)
  • Keep hands and feet to yourself.
  • Do not throw ANY objects in class.
  • Do not talk when the teacher is talking.
  • Appropriately shut down any equipment used.
  • Clean work area (this includes putting materials
    back neatly.)
  • Do your BEST at all times.

20
  • Please keep in mind that the equipment in this
class is very expensive. Sometimes accidents do
happen and equipment will get damaged or broken.
However, if a student intentionally disregards
the class rules and this results in equipment
being damaged, the students parent or guardian is
responsible for the replacement cost of the
    equipment.

  • Below you will find a permission slip that
allows yours student to participate in FACS
class. This permission slip is needed because we
sometimes use equipment in class that could cause
injury if not used correctly. It is also used to
inform you that if lab equipment is broken or
damaged due to your student not using it
correctly or because they have disregarded class
rules then as the parent/guardian you are
responsible for the replacement cost of the
    equipment.
  • By signing below you are indicating that you
have read the entire syllabus and the class
    expectations form. You assume all
responsibilities outlined in the syllabus and
    class expectation form.
  • - your name and signature
  • - parents name and signature
  • - parent contact information

Bell Ringers
  • Everyday you come to class there will be a bell
ringer posted on the wall. It is your
responsibility to copy down the bell ringer or
answer the bell ringer (depending on what the
    directions say.) Periodically throughout the
semester a quiz will be given over the concepts
learned through bell ringers. You will also have
the chance to share your answers to certain bell
ringers with the class. Be sure to always date
your bell ringer and separate each entry with a
line. (Multiple entries can go on each page.)
Keep you bell ringers in your binder and be sure
to get bell ringers you may have missed from an
