Summary of Websitehttp//eserver.org/academy/syra
cuse-strike.html
  • This website briefly tells the story of Sacco and
Vanzetti, but it focuses mainly on Ben Shahns
mural. It exposes the underlying symbolism of
each of the objects in the mural, and describes
the main ideas that Shahn wanted to portray to
the public. Although this site describes the
Sacco and Vanzetti tale, it mainly focuses on how
the piece relates to a strike that took place at
    Syracuse University in 1998.

Summary of Web Sitehttp//english.upenn.edu/filr
eis/88/sacvan.html
  • This web site tells, in depth, the events of the
Sacco and Vanzetti trial in chronological order,
from their arrests to their deaths. It then
explains the effect the trial had on America and
the world. The author strongly believes that
Sacco and Vanzetti were wrongly accused, and that
American democracy was forever blemished in the
eyes of the rest of the world.

Overview
  • The Sacco and Vanzetti case, the play M.
Butterly, and 9/11 all deal with foreigners who
have radical ideas that are not accepted by the
community they reside in. Sacco and Vanzetti were
persecuted because they had radical communist
beliefs during the time of the Red Scare in
America, and in M. Butterfly, the main
characters were punished under Chinas communist
government for being homosexuals. Although both
of these events happened in the past, prejudice
still exists in todays world. The post 9/11
situation in America is a very good example of
this. Many Arabs and Muslims in the United States
are still discriminated against and wrongly
accused of suspicious activities, only because
they are followers of the Islamic religion.
