HISTORY

• Sepak Takraw originated in South East Asia.
  Originally it was not played with a net.
  Normally people would stand in a circle and kick
  a ball to each other.
• The ball dates back 500 years ago.

SYNOPSIS

• A match is played between two teams, each with 3
  players.
• A 3 player team is called a REGU.

COURT

• Dimensions- 20 x 44, similar to badminton
  courts.
• The net stands 5 at the center and 5 1 at the
  poles for men. For women it is 48 at the
  center and 49 at the post.

THE BALL

• Traditionally hand-woven made of rattan stems or
  very hard plastic.
• It has 12 holes and 20 intersections.
• Circumference is no less than 14.5.
• Weight 6 oz.
• Speed 86.9 mph

GAME PLAY

• 2 teams compet for higher scores by spiking a
  ball into the opponents court.
• 3 chances to kick, knee, shoulder, or head the
  ball across the net.
• 3 passes, sets, spikes- but the strokes must be
  made soccer style no hands or arms.

RULES

• 1. NO hands
• 2. Touch ball only 3 times
• 3. Defense is not rotated.
• 4. Net-in service

THE SERVE

• The player who kicks a serve surely puts a leg
  (shaft foot) in the service circle, and takes a
  toss from the player who went into the quater
  circle (the semicircle of a radius 90 cm done
  around the contact point of the center line and
  the sideline), and kicks the ball.
• When a game begins by one serve, a ball can be
  touched by the attack of one time to three times.
  You can use a head, a back, legs, and anywhere
  except for the arm from the shoulder to the point
  of the finger.

SCORING

• 3 sets for a match- best of 3
• Team scoring 15 points wins a set. If both teams
  are tied 13-13, the first team that scored 13
  first may choose to decide the set through a 5
  point match or if its 14-14 the decided match
  will go to a 3 point match.

SCORING

• 1. When either serving side or receiving side
  commits a fault, a point and the next service is
  awarded to the opposing side.
• 2. The match is played in 2 sets with a 2-min.
  rest in between.

DRESS

• Men- shorts, jerseys or t-shirts, and sport
  shoes.
• Women- shorts to knees and a round neck t-shirt
  w/sleeves.
