The fifth and sixth graders made this PowerPoint
to show you what theyve been up to, and what
they think is important for you to know.
You will see lots of The Ends. They were put
in groups of two so its just the end of their
portion. Its not really over until you see an
end note from me.

Spelling Bee

• We are going to have the Spelling Bee in April.
• If you win in your classroom you will get to go
  to Redfield to participate in the Spelling Bee.
• If you get 1st place you can get a pin, and if
  you get 2nd to 3rd place you get a ribbon.

Pre-test Final Test

• When we do the the Pre-test we get 1 30 words.
• Mrs.Taylor usually gives the 6th graders their
  pretest.
• Mrs.Miles sometimes gives the 5th grade and 6th
  grade their pretest.
• If you get one wrong you dont have to take the
  final test.
• Final test is on Fridays.
• And the pretest is in Mondays.

Bonus Words

• The 5th and 6th graders get bonus words and it is
  usually a president or a different word.

• We are supposed to finish our workbook on
  Wednesday.
• We have 5 pages.
• On Monday we do 2 pages, Tuesday we do 2 pages,
  and on Wednesday we do 1 page.

Sticker and Candy

• When we get an S on our Spelling test, that means
  we get a sticker.

• If we get a C on the Spelling test, we get a
  piece of candy. When we get S C we get both of
  them.

Only study spelling words
off of the typed sheet.
The pretest is a great tool to use, but it might
not be as accurate.

Here are the 5th and 6th graders singing the
Presidents song. We usually have a Presidents
last name as a bonus word for our spelling test.

We have to read 300 pages a month. Reading all
the pages every month counts as test points. If
we read 500 pages we go in the 500 club.

PAGES OR MORE IN ONE MONTH) WE GET OUR PICTURE IN
THE PAPER, WE GET A PRIZE, AND WE GET LOTS OF

• WE TRY TO ANSWER HISTORY BUFFYS QUESTIONS,

What Parents Need To Know

• We have to study our notes every night after we
  get a lesson.
• We have new notes after we have a new lesson.

Experiments
We have learned that air takes up space, and
weve learned about physical and chemical
changes. Weve also learned the difference
between suspensions and solutions through our
class experiments. We have learned a lot that we
may need to know in the future.



It has helped us extensively.

  Science, we turn to the back of our text book
  where we have questions we have to answer.
• We also have an experiment after almost

Multiplication, Division, Addition, and
Subtraction

• Study your flash cards at home four nights a
  week.
• Do them as fast as your parents can flip them.
• After you can do that you dont have to study
  anymore.
• But do them every once in a while to be sure you
  know them .

How Do I Study Flash Cards With My Child

• First you take a little pile and go over and over
  and over them.
• Then add a little more each time.
• After you get done with the flash cards you can
  take a break.

• Then if youre done with your division do your
  multiplication cards.
• Then after youre all done with those cards you
  can do your addition cards.
• Then study subtraction.

Daily Review

• We do extra problems in our Daily Review every
  time.
• We do our Daily Review after every assignments.
• Our Daily Review has lots of pages of problems.

What Weve Been Up To

• We have been reading about maps. For example
  elevation, climate, physical, and political. We
  made an art project from model clay. The maps
  show the elevation of our continent. After it
  dried we painted it to show the elevation of our
  area.
