Druhy medu (Yveta) Samotný vznik medu není tak jednoduchý jak si řada lidí představuje. To, že včely sbírají med a nosí jej do úlu je opravdu pouze mýtus. Med je látka, kterou včely tvoří z nektaru, což jsou sladké šťávy, které sbírají z květů rostlin. Včely jej obohatí o látky ze svého těla, ukládají jej do plástů a nechají jej zrát. Teprve po správné době vzniká z nektaru a dalších látek med. Případně je nektar nahrazen medovicí, kterou včely sbírají v lesích. Medovici produkuje celá řada lesního hmyzu, žijícího na stromech. Nasbíraný nektar či medovice jsou včelími dělnicemi snášeny do úlu, kde je další dělnice chemicky přetváří a ukládají v plástech. Již během sběru a přeletu zpět k úlu včela k nektaru či medovici přidá svůj vlastní enzym – fermet, který štěpí složené cukry. Včela žije méně než 40 dní, navštíví nejméně 1000 květů a vyprodukuje méně než čajovou lžičku medu. Pro nás je to jen lžička medu, ale pro včelu je to celý život. Music: Kenny G — Waiting for You.
