THE COUNTRY
  • Italy is formed by 20 Regions and has a
    population of about 58 million people and its
    capital city is Rome.
  • The State is a parliamentary Republic. Italy is
    part of G8 and is a member of Schengen Agreement.

  • Rome is a concentration of history with a
    population of about 4 million people.
  • In 1957 was born, in Rome the EU, in 1960,
    September 18, after The Olympic Games was held
    what we can consider the first edition of
    Paralympic Games
  • Rome hosts several International Organization as
    FAO, ILO, UNESCO, and as capital city hosts
    Embassies and the representative Office of EU.
  • Beside its historical, cultural, tourist and
    economic prestige, Rome is renowned for its
    success in the organization of big international
    events such as 2000 Jubilee year, the Youth World
    Day, the International Film Festival. Rome has

TRANSPORT SYSTEM
  • Rome has two airports
  • The Leonardo da Vinci international/Domestic
    Airport, with connections with 130 airports
    spread over the five continents.
  • The Ciampino International Airport is almost a
    low cost flight airport with forty daily
    connections
  • Rome has 5 train stations ( one Termini
    International) and the Port of Civitavecchia (
    100 Km far from Rome) is also an important hub.
  • In Rome there are two main subway lines and 5
    local trains to connect the suburb with the city
    centre. There are 289 bus lines 6 tramway lines
    and more than 5000 taxis.
