• Most centers are located in meeting houses of The
  Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
• Centers are administered and operated by local
  Church members
• Everyone is welcome to come to the Centers and
  use their resources

• Provide access to microfilms / microfiche to
  help patrons identify their ancestors
• Staff wont do genealogical research for you
• They can teach you to use the Centers resources,
  answer research questions, and order microfilms
  / microfiche for you

FHC - Resources

• The Family History Library Catalog Lists and
  describes the materials, on microfiche,
  available from the main Family History Library
• Microfilm / microfiche from the Family History
  LibraryCenters only keep some microfilm /
  microfiche on hand. Patrons can get copies of
  most Family History Library microfilm /
  microfiche loaned to the Center closest to them
  for a nominal fee

• Personal Ancestral FileA computer program to
  help patrons to organize their family history
  research. Most Centers have it available on
  their computers
• Published ResourcesMost Centers have a
  collection of reference sources including
  research helps, genealogies, histories,
  gazetteers, atlases, and maps

• Family History Library Catalog Lists birth,
  marriage, and death records, census records,
  church registers, etc.
• International Genealogical IndexLists several
  hundred million names of deceased persons from
  around the world. It also lists vital
  information, such as a birth or marriage date
  and place

• Ancestral File Contains names and other vital
  information (such as date and place of birth,
  marriage, or death) of millions of individuals
  who have lived throughout the world
• U.S. Social Security Death IndexContains records
  of deaths reported to the Social Security
  Administration. Most records start in 1962

• U.S. Military IndexLists individuals who died or
  were declared dead in Korea or Vietnam from 1950
  to 1975
• Scottish Church Records.  An index to the Old
  Parochial Registers of Scotland
• Pedigree Resource FileContains names,
  relationships, birth, marriage, and death
  information for millions of people
