What are eating disorders?
  • Eating disorder is when
  • a person eats, or
  • refuses to eat, in order
  • to satisfy a psychic
  • need and not a physical
  • need.

Numbers about eating disorders
  • 70 million people in the world have eating
    disorders.
  • 90 of them are women between the ages of 12 to
    25.
  • Without treatment 20 of people with serious
    eating disorders die.
  • With treatment, that number falls to 2-3.

What is bulimia nervosa?
  • Eating large amounts of food in a short time
  • Purging.

  • Uncontrolled, impulsive, or continuous eating

  • Repetitive diets
  • Feelings of shame or self-hatred after a binge.
