• Cooperation started with the establishment of
  Lithuanian Colleges of Democracy (LDUK) in 1995.
  The establisher of LDUK was 4 Vilnius Pedagogical
  University lecturers

Cooperation involved

• To enhance the mutual cooperation between Vilnius
  pedagogical university, Lithuanian College of
  Democracy and US partners (Center for Civic
  Education (Calabasas, USA), Indiana University
  (USA), Purdue University (USA) for the future
  projects within the framework of the civic
  education and democracy development.
• To improve the study quality by offering civic
  education studies modules in Bachelor in Social
  Pedagogy in Vilnius pedagogical university.
• To create and enhance new online tools (i.e. the
  interactive community web-site) those promote
  civic education best practices and participation
  in Project Citizen.
• To establish a network for the exchange of ideas
  and experiences and as such the durability of the
  outcome is central.
• To engage and promote the research for the
  project and program development
• To organize yearly international conference
  CIVITAS and an International Civic Educational
  Exchange

We the People The Citizen and the Constitution

• An instructional program on the history and
  principles of American constitutional democracy
  for elementary, middle, and high school students.
  The program is based on curricular materials
  developed by the Center and acclaimed by leading
  educators.

Key Results08

• 560 students and teachers participated in the
  studies modules on Civic Education and the
  Project Citizen
• 37 schools were consulted and mentored by
  Lithuania College of Democracy and Vilnius
  pedagogical university lecturers and consultants
  for Project Citizen development in Lithuania
• Integrated Civic Education studies modules and
  Project Citizen in Bachelor and Master in Social
  Pedagogy programme in Vilnius pedagogical
  university prepared 40 Project Citizen and ensure
  possibility to involve 7 new schools.
• A new interactive community web-site
  (www.democ.lt) has successfully involved about
  100-120 new every day visitors.

The national project CITIZENshowcase

• In Lithuanian Parliament (Seimas) was held
  national project CITIZEN
• showcase, which involved about 300 students and
  civic education
• professionals. The participants proposed the most
  efficient solutions to
• address the environmental, employment of minors,
  and other studied
• problems.

  Lithuanian College of
• Democracy in association with Vilnius Pedagogical
  University Social
• Communication Institute integrated project
  CITIZEN in social pedagogy
• programme and ensure the possibility to put into
  practice these
• methodology in different Lithuanians schools.

Political Week

• The last two weeks of October, 2008, in Vilnius
• Pedagogical University (VPU) was held
• citizenship education campaign - "Political
• Week", in which different political parties
  before
• the election had the opportunity to present the
• child welfare policy. Political week was started
• by a guest from California (USA) Center for
• Civic Education, Civitas International Programs
• Manager dr. Darius Udrys.
