Tardies

• You are considered tardy if
• You are not in your seat
• You do not have out paper, pencil and last
  nights homework
• AT THE BELL!

If Not

• 1st offense 5 minute detention
• That Day!
• 2nd offense 10 minutes
• That Day!
• 3rd offense write up

Hall Pass

• You might as well forget it.
• If it is an emergency you may go, but you will
  have to stay with me for 10 minutes that same
  day. Not the next day. No excuses. Lets be
  specific 255-305 PM. If you dont show up,
  its a write up.
• 4th period only on a stretcher.

The Good News

• If you make it through a whole quarter with no
  tardies, you get 1 added onto your semester
  grade.
• Same goes for hall passes.
• You could get 2 on each quarter.

Siestas

• 1st warning which may involve any creative way I
  can think of to wake you up.
• 2nd you will stand in the back of the room and
  take notes. Doesnt sound fun.
• 3rd 10 minutes and a call home.
• 4th You have to be kidding me. Im writing you
  up this time and every time after it. You might
  sleep through it, but expect it.

Classroom Disruption

• Thats the box Ill check on your write up if you
  prevent me from doing my job. This is MY
  classroom. If you are talking while Im talking
  or generally acting like a monkey butt, I will
  write you up. Thats that!
• P.S. Getting up to leave before the bell rings
  is considered a class disruption.

Bad Language

• If its a minor offense not aimed at anyone you
  may just have to wash the board. Minor offense?
  minor consequences.
• If it is muttered in anger you will be written
  up.
• If it is directed at another student or adult,
  the punishment is even more severe (see
  discipline code), plus you may be on my bad side,
  a baaaad place to be.

Absences

• Your absences are not my problem.
• You have the responsibility to check the homework
  chart. You must come to me to make up quizzes and
  tests.
• Missing the day before a quiz or test does not
  excuse you.
• Work due the day you missed is due the day you
  return.

Homework

• Expect it pretty much every Monday through
  Friday. Articles due every other Friday.
• Homework can be done easily with internet access,
  or you may check out a disk.
• As a trade off, you will almost never have Friday
  homework. Youre welcome.
• I DO NOT ACCEPT LATE WORK, no excuses, ever.

Retakes

• They dont exist here.

Thirsty?

• Have some water. Nothing else.

Hungry?

• Tough
• Gum Chewing?
• If I see it, hear, it or find it on the
  furniture, the answer is NO!

Bullying

• If I get the slightest inkling that you are
  bullying or being bullied, I will write it up.
  If you are innocent, dont worry. All you have
  to do is tell the truth to Mr. Engel and youre
  golden. Dont try to tell me youre innocent.
  Thats not my job.

I hope you enjoy your time here this semester.

• If you dont, just remember this one thing. You
  are in control of your life. If you say you are
  going to have a miserable time, and do everything
  in your power to make that true, you will
  probably not enjoy your freshman year. However,
  if you open yourself to new possibilities and
  expand your horizons, you just might have a great
  time here this semester, and year, at LMHS!

Just a few pointers to remember.

• DO NOT throw anything away!
• A copy of the entire article is to be turned in
  with the summary and opinion paper every other
  Friday.
• NO LATE WORK ACCEPTED!
• NO PUT DOWNS ALLOWED!
• BE PREPARED!
• BE ON TIME!

• DO NOT USE THE RED INK PEN FOR ANY WORK TO BE
  TURNED IN!
• I DO NOT want to see the five Bs!

• I will take work from other classes being done on
  my time.
