Do you KNOW WHAT THE MUSCULAR SYSTEM IS?
Did you know that there are 630 muscles in your
body? Muscles help you move around. Muscles help
your food digest. Cells make muscles contract and
expand.

The Types of Muscles

• The three kinds of muscles are
• voluntary (skeletal)
• involuntary (smooth)
• cardiac (heart)

The Voluntary Muscles

• Voluntary muscles only work when you tell them
  to. Voluntary muscles are sometimes called
  skeletal muscles. They are attached to different
  types of bones. They are striated. They move
  bones. They work in pairs.

Involuntary Muscles

• Did you know that
• smooth muscles are
• called involuntary?
• They are in sheets or
• layers. We cannot
• control our
• involuntary muscles.
• Examples are your
• diaphragm and your
• eye muscles.

Cardiac Muscle

• The cardiac
• muscle is the
• strongest
• muscle in the
• body. The
• cardiac muscle
• works all by
• itself. The cardiac
• muscle can be
• called the
• myocardium.
